BIKING

Until the warm weather comes, it seems like most of us are biking indoors. But there are still some folks out biking:

Cristin wants to get our own Tribe class going at Computrainer. If anyone wants to try it out first, she goes on Thursday nights and Saturdays at 3pm.

Mae's out in Prospect Park on the weekends.

Caroline has offered to lead some long rides on the weekend in the spring. Melissa also mentioned Bike New York rides and the MS ride, as springtime ride options.

Happy biking everyone!

RUNNING

Most of us are running in Prospect Park, but note that Caroline runs in Hudson River Park in the mornings and Melissa does many of the NYRRC weekend races in Central Park:

Abby has declared morning runs in Prospect Park on Sunday mornings at 10am and Thursday mornings at 7am. I (Melissa) will be joining her for both. Anyone else??

Hannah's up for Monday evening runs in the park, but check with her to confirm a time.

I have volunteered to do speed work training (yes Bethany, go ahead and say it, fartleks, okay?) and hill training. Those will most likely take place on Sunday mornings in the park. I'm happy to work with folks on your individual running goals too.

SWIMMING

Wanted to recap when and where folks are doing their swims:

9th St. Y in Park Slope - Abby
Dodge Y in Cobble Hill - Cristin
14th St. Y in Manhattan - Carin
Chelsea Rec Center in Manhattan - Caroline
Berkley Carroll Pool in Park Slope - Bethany, Mae, Melissa & Hannah

THURSDAY NIGHT - is the night some of us agreed to meet for swims at Berkley Carroll Pool.

Kate agreed to take on the job as our swim coach (as evidenced by the photo above) and plan some open water swims when the weather gets warmer.

Happy swimming everyone! ;)

Welcome Women of The TRIbe

Great seeing everyone at our dinner last night. Bethany, thanks for hosting!! Look forward to using this space to post our workouts and athletic pursuits, so we can support each other.

Since this is our first post, I thought it might be nice to post our mission statement:

The TRIbe is a group of women triathletes (mostly in Brooklyn), who have joined to support each other in our athletic pursuits and beyond.

Gotta run now to go climb Mt. Kilimanjaro, the tallest peak in Africa at over 19,000 feet, but when I'm back I look forward to running, biking, swimming with all of you!
Love,
Melissa
